biography
Mei Miyazawa is a Toronto-based Japanese actress/dancer. Born and raised in Tokyo, Mei was always exposed to various art scene. Her formal jazz and ballet training began at the age of three in Tokyo, Japan. In 2014, she moved to Canada on her own, to continue dance studies at the Quinte Ballet School of Canada in Belleville, Ontario. She trained in the professional training division and added hip hop and modern dance to her growing list of passions. She then attended Cardinal Carter Academy of the Arts and Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts to expand her knowledge further in dance and theatre. Mei is a 2020 graduate of the Music Theatre Performance Program at St. Lawrence College in Brockville.
Her former performance credits include: Chicago as Merry Murderess Mona (Wavestage), Restless Night in Late Spring as Mitsuko-lead (Shadowpath Theatre), Cell-Block Tango : Reimagined (EveryBODY on Stage), Sweet Charity as Helene (SLC), The Little Mermaid as Atina/asst. dance captain (SLC), Decaying Tongue as Aya-lead (Toronto Fringe Festival 2019), Jesus Christ Superstar as Soul girl/Herod’s dancer/ensemble (SLC), The Addams Family (SLC). Her other passions include heels/commercial dancing, children's theatre, teaching dance, film/music video, and choreography (i.e. Dancing Stars of Leeds Grenville 2019).
